HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 23 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, resumed today his tours of the municipality of San Luis, in the westernmost province of Pinar del Rio, to check the work priorities of the territories.
Accompanied by Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the PCC; Yamile Ramos Cordero, First Secretary of the PCC in the province, and other authorities of the Party and the Government of Pinar del Rio, the President visited sites of social and economic interest, informed the Presidency on X.
The head of state went to the new Tobacco Processing Center, V-13-26, which will start operating in May, where he took an interest in the working conditions of the workers.
Diaz-Canel continued his agenda at the Celia Sanchez Manduley Children's House, which benefits the families of the Rio Feo Popular Council and currently houses 20 infants out of the 50 that can be accommodated in the facility.
Tobacco producers from the Giraldo Valdes Credit and Service Cooperative exchanged with the president, who spoke to them about the prestige of this Cuban product in the world.
Diaz-Canel arrived in the Jose Marti community of the Urban People's Council, where families who lived in low-lying areas and were affected by Hurricane Ian, after its passage in September 2022 through the west of the country, live.
During the dialogue with neighbors and authorities, the President was told that 26 new houses were built on the site, where 89 people live.
Diaz-Canel visited last week the provinces of Ciego de Avila, Sancti Spiritus, Villa Clara, Cienfuegos, Matanzas, Mayabeque, Artemisa and the Special Municipality of the Isle of Youth, to evaluate the year's priorities and social work in each of the places.
