Cuban parliament commissions visit highland municipalities in eastern region



BAYAMO, Cuba, Jan 19 (ACN) Members of eight standing committees of the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament) toured socio-economic and productive objectives in the mountainous municipalities of Guisa, Buey Arriba and Bartolome Maso, in the Cuban province of Granma.

The working visit, which began on Wednesday after a meeting attended by the highest authorities and deputies elected by the eastern territory, is aimed at exchanging with the population at the grassroots level and assessing compliance with the plan of measures derived from the local government's accountability before the country's highest legislative body.

Until next Saturday 20, the program also includes visits to sites of interest in the towns of Bayamo and Manzanillo, as well as a check-up on the implementation of the policies approved for the economy, services and different social programs.

Headed by the Secretary of the Parliament, Homero Acosta Alvarez, the delegation that arrived in Guisa talked with directors and members of the Municipal Assembly of People's Power and the Administration Council, showing special interest in the results of the entrance exams to Higher Education, the collection of solid waste and the elimination of bureaucratic obstacles.

According to the report of Anaisis Hidalgo Rodriguez, from the provincial newspaper La Demajagua, other issues analyzed were the main sources of development, the predominant activities among the non-state management forms, and proposals to be solved regarding water supply, transportation, high prices, the state of roads and the completion of the standard family basket of goods.

Felix Martinez Suarez, president of the Economic Commission of the Cuban Parliament, along with other members of the delegation that accompanied him in Bartolome Maso, fulfilled work objectives in the Tax Administration Office, bank branches, and the municipal directorates of Education and Public Health.
