CAMAGÜEY, Cuba, Jan 9 (ACN) The University of Camagüey (UC), the first created by the Revolution, made progress in 2023 regarding the development of artificial intelligence applications.
Among the UC’s main results, rector Santiago Lajes Choy mentioned the improvements in the production and distribution of energy, cattle reproduction studies, new models of construction and conservation of buildings, and the management of weather-related information, prediction and forecasts. The school also graduated 35 new doctors of science and won six awards granted by the Cuban Academy of Sciences and 12 other national commendations.
UC relies today on a network of 34 professional servers and more than 2,000 interconnected computers with high-speed Internet and RedUniv browsing capacity, synchronous and asynchronous messaging, FTP and videoconferencing, all of which benefits more than 25,000 users.
Its plans for 2024 include the graduation of more than 1,700 new professionals and accreditation of degree courses on Electrical Engineering and Agronomy, as well as of the master's degrees in Tourism Management, Regional Development, Science and Innovation Management, Socio-educational Inclusion, and Methodology of Sports Training for High Performance Athletes, in addition to a doctoral program in Accounting and Financial Sciences.
With 12 municipal university centers and 10 schools, UC leads 104 projects and promotes eight innovation programs related to food sovereignty, energy efficiency, housing construction, sustainable development of tourism, and computerization, among other socioeconomic priorities.
