Commissions of the Cuban parliament to hold sessions today and tomorrow



HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 18 (ACN) As a preview to the 2nd Ordinary Session of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP), in its 10th Legislature, its permanent working commissions will analyze today and tomorrow, at the Havana Convention Center, issues that have an impact on the daily life of Cubans and on the country's development.

Monday, in the Economic Affairs Commission, its deputies will know the estimated closing of the Economy Plan in 2023 and the objectives and goals for 2024, as well as those of the State Budget, and the results of the control actions on its execution and its elaboration for next year, according to the ANPP secretariat.

The analysis of the results and recommendations made in the exercise of the highest audit to the Ministry of Agriculture will be made jointly by the committees of Economic Affairs; Education, Culture, Science, Technology and Environment, as well as Industry, Construction and Energy.

The Attention to Youth, Childhood and Equal Rights of Women Commission will receive this morning an update on the main advances in the implementation of the Policy for the Attention to Children, Adolescents and Youth, and in the afternoon it will assess the results of the checking of the implementation of the Integral Strategy for the Prevention and Attention to Gender Violence and in the Family Scenario.

Compliance with Law No. 132 on the Organization and Functioning of the Municipal Assemblies and the People's Councils, as regards the performance of the permanent working commissions, will be checked in the Commission on Attention to the Local Bodies of People's Power, whose members will also learn about the Draft Plan of the Economy and the Budget Law for 2024, with emphasis on the allocation to the territories.

In the Health and Sports Committee, the results of the verification of compliance with the policy approved for the development of Natural and Traditional Medicine and the current epidemiological situation, among other aspects, will be evaluated Monday.

The Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs will be informed by the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic, the People's Supreme Court, the Ministry of the Interior and the National Organization of Collective Law Firms on the status of the implementation of the Criminal Procedure Law, and jointly with the Committee on Defense and Internal Order will verify compliance with the ANPP's Opinion on the progress of the fight against crime.

The Education, Culture, Science, Technology and Environment Commission, among other issues, will deal with cultural work and the role of schools in the transformation of communities, and compliance with Decree-Law 7/2020 "On the Science, Technology and Innovation System" at the municipal level, due to its implication in the Municipal Development Strategies.

The analysis of the proposed opinion of the accountability report of the Ministry of Industries to the ANPP will be today a joint task of the committees of Industry, Construction and Energy; Economic Affairs; Agrifood; and Education, Culture, Science, Technology and Environment.

In the first one, the Ministry of Energy and Mines will present the new communication strategies aimed at keeping the population informed and reducing the demand and consumption of electricity in all sectors.

The Ministry of Economy and Planning will report on the impact of the new economic actors, including MSMEs, and the control over their operation, while the Minister of Transportation will present the measures approved in the Passenger Transport Program.

Common denominator in the agenda of these two days is the presentation within the permanent commissions of the ANPP of the estimated closing of the Economy Plan in 2023 and of the Objectives and goals for 2024, as well as the one corresponding to the execution of the State Budget in the current year and the proposals of indicators for the coming year.
