HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 14 (ACN) As a result of heavy rains on Wednesday, 28 collapses occurred in the Cuban capital, including 17 partial roof collapses and 11 of type one, in the municipalities of Centro Habana, Diez de Octubre and Cerro, the Government of Havana reported on Facebook.
No loss of human lives was regretted and the neediest families were protected, it was learned at a meeting of the Temporary Working Group in Havana, attended by Major General Ramon Pardo Guerra, chief of the National General Staff of the Civil Defense.
In the exchange, Pardo Guerra insisted on the need, in view of climate change, to keep the population informed of meteorological events that occur beyond the limit of the cyclonic season, from June 1 to November 30.
According to the report, more than 100 millimeters of rainfall were registered in 12 hours, which generated several damages.
Yanet Hernandez Perez, governor of Havana, acknowledged the immediacy of the authorities of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and the Government, who since early morning accompanied the residents of vulnerable sites in the 15 territories of the capital.
Alain Dalcourt, member of the PCC Provincial Bureau, and Miriam Teresita Llanes, head of the Meteorological Institute's Forecasting Center, were also present at the meeting.
