Cuban MP assumes Presidency of the Latin American Parliament



HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 11 (ACN) For the first time in the history of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (Parlatino), a Cuban congressman will occupy the presidency of this regional body.
Rolando Miguel Gonzalez Patricio, who until now was acting as Alternate President of Parlatino, will take office as of December 10 as President of this body.

Information from the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament states that Gonzalez Patricio , who is also head of the International Relations Commission of the National Assembly of People's Power of the Republic of Cuba, as of Sunday, "replaces Senator Silvia Giacoppo, who will complete her term of office".

uban deputy has a degree in International Political Relations from the " Raul Roa Garcia" Higher Institute of International Relations, as well as professor and researcher and PhD in Historical Sciences.

He began his working life as a researcher at the Center for Martiano Studies, where he became director. Afterwards, he held the same position at the "Juan Marinello" Cuban Institute of Cultural Research.

Gonzalez Patricio was Rector of the University of the Arts, until reaching his current position. He was elected as deputy to the National Assembly of People's Power for the municipality of Campechuela, in the eastern province of Granma.

From the Cuban Parliament's account in the digital platform X, the deputies of the Caribbean nation expressed their congratulations and acknowledged the fact that "for the first time a deputy from Cuba assumes the Presidency of the Parlatino".
