COP28 to learn about adaptation plan for Cuban coastal zone



HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 6 (ACN) At the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), under way in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Cuba will present today its Adaptation Plan for Havana's coastal zone, implemented in six municipalities of the city.

According to the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment (CITMA), representatives of this project and members of the National Institute of Regional and Urban Planning will present their actions to adapt to climate change, with an impact on life protection, recovery, resilience and capacity building.

Reports have it that the Plan will help identify risks and vulnerabilities per population sector and to take adaptation measures and investment decisions.

Announced in 2022, it relies on three million dollars provided by the Green Climate Fund and implemented by the United Nations Development Program in Cuba in cooperation with CITMA’s Environment Agency.
