Cuban VP begins official visit to Rwanda



HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 20 (ACN) Salvador Valdes Mesa, Cuban Vice President, began today an official visit to Rwanda, the last destination of a tour that began on November 13 through African continent nations.

The Cuban Presidency reported on its website that early this morning, the Cuban delegation was received at the international airport of Kigali by Vincent Biruta, Rwandan Foreign Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, who ratified his country's willingness to cooperate with Cuba.

The Foreign Minister commented on how much can be done in health matters, in areas such as the production of vaccines and other medicines, with emphasis on Cuba's studies and results in the treatment of diabetes and the use of Heberprot-P for the therapy of diabetic foot ulcers.
For his part, Valdes Mesa expressed his hope that this visit will boost the development of bilateral relations, noting that it opens prospects for collaboration in different sectors.

According to X the Presidency, the working day of the Cuban representation on Monday began at the Genocide Memorial in Kigali, paying tribute to the victims of the cruel ethnic massacre that took place here in 1994, where more than one million people were killed.

The tour in Africa, which already included Ghana, Guinea-Bissau and Ethiopia, will last until November 22, and the official Cuban delegation is also composed of Tania Margarita Cruz Hernandez, first deputy minister of public health, and Angel Villa Hernandez, deputy director general of bilateral affairs of the foreign ministry.
