Cuban president congratulates cyclist Arlenis Sierra for her Pan American medal

 HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 23 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, congratulated Cuban cyclist Arlenis Sierra, who won the silver medal in the time trial at the Pan American Games Santiago 2023.

Congratulations, champion, and lots of encouragement for Sunday on the road; from Cuba, a big hug, the Cuban president declared on the social network X.

With his message Diaz-Canel shared the words of Osvaldo Vento Montiller, president of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation, in which he highlighted the simplicity, love for Cuba and willingness to do battle of the outstanding athlete.

Sierra took second place in the individual time trial (26:07.11) of 20 kilometers, only surpassed by the American Kristen Faulkner (25:45.38), sixth place in the world in 2022.

So far Cuba is in sixth place in the standings of the Pan American Games that began last October 20 in the Chilean capital with the participation of 41 countries.
