HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 23 (ACN) In a special morning meeting held Monday in areas surrounding the coliseum of the Ciudad Deportiva, in Havana, leaders, officials and workers of the National Institute of Sports and Recreation (INDER by its Spanish acronym), on behalf of the Cuban sports movement, ratified their solidarity with the heroic and brotherly people of Palestine.
The event was headed by the first vice president of INDER, Raul Fornes Valenciano, and Yosvany Cañete, first secretary of the Cuban Communist Party Committee in the Cerro municipality, along with other officials of institutions subordinate to the main sports organization in the country.
Lisandra Zamora Ruiz, secretary of the Base Committee of the Young Communist League (UJC by its Spanish acronym), on behalf of the young people, expressed that they have been trained in the values of respect for others, humanism and peace, so they demand the end of the illegal occupation of the Palestinian territory that for more than seven decades has represented an unprecedented evil for the lives of children, women and men.
The highest trade union leader of the organization, Lazara Perez Gonzalez, stressed: "We condemn once again the genocide, the violence, the deprivation of basic services of the population of Gaza and demand the immediate cessation of this aggression and support the Palestinian cause which we will defend as with other brotherly nations as our own cause".
For his part, Antonio William Suarez, secretary general of the Party Committee, on behalf of the militancy of INDER's main body, workers and athletes, as well as all those who belong to the Cuban sports movement, demanded the Israeli government the immediate ceasefire and the inhumane aggressions against the Palestinian people.
