More Irregular Migrants are Returned to Cuba

Havana, Sept 26 (ACN) Authorities from The Cayman Islands and the United States returned a total of 42 irregular migrants to Cuba in two operations on Tuesday.

A first group of 32 individuals, including six women who had left the island illegally by sea, were brought back by the US Coast Guard Service to the Orozco harbor in Bahia Honda, western Artemisa province.

Meanwhile, Cayman Islands authorities returned 10 Cuban migrants to Havana’s Jose Marti International Airport.

Most of the returned persons are from the provinces of Granma and Santiago de Cuba in the East and from the capital Havana.

Eight individuals were taken under investigation agencies for having committed alleged serious crimes under probe before they illegally left the country.

This year some 105 deportation operations from different countries of the region have involved four thousand 341 irregular migrants.

Cuba maintains its commitment to a regular, safe and orderly migration and reiterates its alert about the danger entailed by illegal departures by sea.
