MATANZAS, Cuba, Sep 20 (ACN) A largely Panamanian group of Latin Americans who are visiting the province of Matanzas praised what the Cuban State has accomplished in humanist matters.
Among the members of the delegation is Panama City councilman Jair Martínez Vega, who referred to the international recognition of Cuba’s efficient health care system, which the Island puts at the disposal of other countries in solidarity.
“Despite the U.S. blockade, Cuba keeps in place sound health care policies for the benefit of its people,” he remarked. “We applaud your resilience, since regardless of the present difficulties you keep making progress in this and other fields such as sports, culture, innovation and tourism, and we would like to implement your experiences in our country.”
Teresa Rubio Pérez, provincial delegate of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), pointed out that Panama has supported Cuba by sending donations, condemning the U.S. blockade, and lending a hand during disasters such as the huge fire that broke out in Matanzas’s supertanker base in 2022.
