Cuba and Vietnam reaffirm willingness to deepen ties

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 18 (ACN) Ana Maria Mari Machado, vice president of Cuba's National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament), and Le Minh Khai, deputy prime minister of Vietnam, reaffirmed today the willingness to continue deepening ties between the two countries.

According to Vietnamplus, during their meeting in Hanoi, the Asian official expressed his country's commitment to pursue the continued development of traditional relations with Cuba, within the framework of cooperation and within the permitted capacity.

Minh Khai stressed that the visit of the Cuban parliamentarian contributes to the consolidation and strengthening of the traditional bilateral friendship.

He said that this trip has greater importance as it takes place in the context of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Cuban Committee for Solidarity with South Vietnam and the 50th anniversary of the first visit of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro to that Indochinese nation, in September 1973.

The deputy head of government expressed hope that the two countries will continue fostering cooperation to make their relations deeper, more substantive and effective.

He requested that Cuba continue to support Vietnamese enterprises in expanding their investments, production and business in the Latin American country.

For her part, Mari Machado assured that the Parliament will do its best to help promote binational relations for the benefit of both peoples.

Cuban MP arrived in Hanoi on September 13 to participate in the 9th World Conference of Young Parliamentarians, which was attended by more than 300 legislators.
