Cuba to hold its 2nd National Conference of the Communist Party in 2024

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 12 (ACN) The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) issued a statement to inform that the Second National Conference of the Party, initially scheduled for October this year, will be postponed to the first quarter of 2024.

The Second National Party Conference will be held in the first quarter of 2024.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, at the proposal of the Political Bureau, decided to postpone to the first quarter of 2024 the 2nd National Conference of the Party, initially scheduled for October of this year.

When the Conference was convened, the 6th Plenary Session of the Central Committee agreed that the criteria and proposals to be submitted to the consideration of the delegates would be the result of an in-depth analysis by the Party and UJC militants, a process that took place between the months of July and August 2023.

A large number of interventions were made by the participants in those meetings and valuable contributions have also been received from relevant experts and academics from various disciplines of the Social Sciences. Consequently, it is necessary to have more time to process and incorporate these proposals into the Party's actions to confront and overcome the tightening of the blockade and the cruel unconventional war that is impacting on the current situation of the country.

Postponing the holding of the 2nd National Conference of the Party will make it possible to consolidate the debate and collective construction of the issues to be addressed at the event and to determine the actions that need to be undertaken in the short term.

During these months, the organizational process prior to the Conference will continue to develop, including the election of delegates. The new date of the party meeting will be announced in due course.
