
Havana, Sept 11 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel attended a cultural gala on Monday to homage former Chilean President Salvador Allende, who was ousted and killed under a military coup in 1973.
The gala counted on the participation of the Havana-based Chilean community, and members of the diplomatic corps, according to the Cuban Presidency.
Also attending was Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, Culture Minster Alpidio Alonso and renowned Cuban intellectuals among other personalities.
The gala included music interpretations by the Cuban National Choir, songwriter and singer Silvio Rodriguez, flutist Niurka Gonzalez, pianist Malva Rodriguez and the Havana Chamber Orchestra.
The September 11, 1973 military coup in Chile ousted Salvador Allende’s People’s Unity Party from power and imposed a military dictatorship which ruled the country up to March 11, 1990.
