Santiago de Cuba, Aug 4 (ACN) Top authorities in this eastern Cuban province held a Special Provincial Defense Council to analyze the local conditions of security and defense.
The Council described as positive the recent ceremony for National Rebellion Day, with no incidence of vandalic acts despite a strong campaign launched on social media to sabotage the event.
The Chief of the Military Region, General Luis Lores, said that Santiago’s operative situation is stable, with pertinent institutions constantly monitoring online platforms encouraging the subversion of local order and actions to affect the country’s economy as well as counterrevolutionary demonstrations.
The military chief called to strengthen security measures at work centers, surveillance in communities and prevent the smuggling of narcotics along Cuban coasts.
Communist Party leader Jose Ramn Monteagudo and Governor Beatriz Johnson stressed the need to guarantee all planned summer activities for the enjoyment of the people in Santiago, among other measures aimed at fighting illegalities and social indiscipline.
