Cuban authorities flagged student brigade in support of medical services

GUANTANAMO, Cuba, Jul 31 (ACN) The Ernesto Che Guevara brigade, of the contingent Razones por la Vida (Reasons for Life), made up of 50 students registered in different degrees of the University of Medical Sciences of Guantanamo (UCMGT by its Spanish acronym)), was flagged today in this eastern city to strengthen during the summer season the services of the provincial hospital Dr. Agostihno Neto, the main health care institution of the territory.

Doctors Nael Preval Campello, provincial director of Health, and Yanet del Carmen Perez Ferreiro, rector of the UCMGT, handed over the flag and identifying banner to the student Silvio Eneider Cuevas de la Cruz, head of the brigade, who expressed his pride for honoring the figure of the Heroic Guerrilla and his transforming practice related to Medicine.

Preval Campello, top Health Director in Guantanamo, explained that the trainees will temporarily cover the human resources deficit in the provincial hospital, especially in nursing, admission, maternity, pre-natal, intensive and intermediate therapy and care of gerontological patients.

The Razones por la Vida contingent was formed at the Guantanamo university on July 10, 2021, in the midst of a complex epidemiological situation due to the outbreak of Covid-19, to the control of which more than 300 recent graduates in the 10 municipalities of the province contributed.
