HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 31 (ACN) Ines Maria Chapman, Cuban deputy prime minister, congratulated today the men and women of the Civil Defense of Cuba, on the 61st anniversary of the creation of this organization.
On Twitter, the deputy prime minister sent a warm hug to this group of workers, who are in charge of protecting the population and the assets of the country's economy in the face of exceptional situations.
In a tweet, the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces also highlighted the date and praised the work of those who make up the Civil Defense system in Cuba, in their tireless task of saving lives.
The organization was founded in 1962 as a popular defense, with the main mission of grouping workers in militia units and defending their industries.
It is a system integrated by all the forces and resources of society and the State, with the function of protecting people and their property, social infrastructure, the economy and natural resources, from the dangers of disasters, the consequences of climate change and war.
