JOBABO, LAS TUNAS, Cuba, May 17 (ACN) The men and women who work the land in this southern municipality of the province of Las Tunas will represent their colleagues from all over the country today at the main event for the Farmers' Day and the 62nd anniversary of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP by its Spanish acronym).
The decision to give Las Tunas the host of the celebrations for the anniversary was due to the overall results of the organization, with emphasis on Jobabo, as well as the attention to its members and their families, and pensioners, which resulted in the incorporation of new members and the addition of more areas to the 159 grassroots organizations in the province.
From Jobabo, the Rafael Trejo and Osvaldo Figueredo Credit and Service Cooperatives(CPA) stand out, among others, but ANAP also recognizes the existence of cooperatives and farmers from all municipalities.
The president of this CPA, Reydenis Gonzalez Cespedes, was decorated this month by Miguel Diaz-Canel with the Hero of Labor medal of the Republic of Cuba.
The province has 41 agro-ecological farms, 803 advanced producers who apply science and technique and increased the number of oxen for the exploitation of the land.
The main event also commemorates the signing of the First Agrarian Reform Law by the Historical Leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro.
