Havana, Cuba, May 12 (ACN) US and Bahamian uthorities returned 97 irregular Cuban migrants to the island on Friday, the Cuban Interior Ministry reported.
The US Coast Guard Service brought 74 of the 97 individuals to the western Orozco harbor in western Artemisa province. The group is made up of 66 men and eight women who were involved in three previous illegal departures.
Meanwhile, a flight from The Bahamas on Friday afternoon returned 23 Cubans—17 men, 5 women and one minor—who had also left the island illegally.
Three of the individuals in the two return operations were submitted to investigation after having being presumably guilty of serious crimes previously under probe in Cuba before their departures.
Other individuals were under conditional freedom at the time they left the country; they will be submitted to corresponding courts.
So far, 3 thousand 743 Cubans have been returned from countries of the region in 71 operations by different authorities.
