HAVANA, Cuba, May 2 (ACN) For Cuba, surrender will never be an alternative, said Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Republic, in his speech at the International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, held in Havana.
The president, who participated in Commission 1 "Anti-imperialist Unity vs. the Monroe Doctrine", stressed the importance of this value as opposed to imperialist logics, which he described as arrogant, discriminatory and contemptuous.
Diaz-Canel thanked the friends from other latitudes present for their support and concern in view of the complicated moment that Cuba is going through due to the tightening of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said that the U.S. expansionist thinking has been based on the ideology of domination, colonialism and the breaking of the roots and essence of the peoples and the permanent attack on those who do not submit to those designs.
In this way, the head of state explained that the unconventional war is applied to everything that contravenes these plans, as in the case of Cuba, to frustrate social processes and changes and to achieve through economic asphyxiation the bet of promoting a rupture between the population and its representatives.
The First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba warned of a differentiation between the vision of the agenda of the mainstream media and the reality of the Caribbean nation, where the call is not only to resist but to overcome the current complexities and challenges with their own efforts.
The event brings together more than 1,000 foreign guests and around 200 nationals, who will raise their voices against the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States and in favor of the elimination of the Caribbean country from the unilateral list of nations that allegedly sponsor terrorism.
Organized by the Cuban Workers' Federation and the Cuban Friendship Institute, among the attendees are union leaders, as well as representatives of solidarity organizations and social movements.
