10th ordinary session of the Cuban parliament starts today in Havana

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 12 (ACN) The 10th ordinary session of the National Assembly of People's Power (Cuban Parliament) in its 9th legislature is being held from today until Dec. 14 at the Havana Convention Center.

During Monday's session, deputies will analyze reports on the progress of the economy in 2022 and the presentation of the general objectives and goals for the Economy Plan for the coming year, by deputy prime minister and head of the sector, Alejandro Gil Fernandez.

The agenda includes information from the Ministry of Energy and Mines on the situation of the National Electro-energy System and on compliance with Law No. 148 on Food Sovereignty, Food and Nutritional Securityand the Government of Pinar del Rio will provide details on the recovery of the territory after the passage of Hurricane Ian last September.

As part of the activities that preceded the meeting, the 11 permanent working commissions of the Parliament met on Sunday to discuss the importance of preserving the national identity from the educational centers, the draft bill of the Public Health Law, the communal services in Cuba and the fulfillment of the Housing Program.

In addition, the MPs discussed a critical problem such as transportation of persons in the Commission of Attention to Services, and evaluated the fight against illegalities, crime and corruption in sectors such as domestic commerce.
The National Assembly of People's Power is the supreme body of State power and the only one with constituent and legislative power in the Republic.
