Cuba hosts international event on agroecology, cooperativism and food sovereignty

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 14 (ACN) With the conference Cuban agriculture in the current context. Linking with science and innovation, to be given by the Minister of Agriculture Ydael Perez Brito will begin Monday, the 8th International Meeting of Agroecology, Food Sovereignty, Nutritional Education and Cooperativism.

Organized by the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP by its Spanish acronym), it will be held at the Niceto Perez Integral Center, located in the municipality of Güira de Melena, in Artemisa(western Cuba).

The event will be attended by 123 foreign delegates and 60 farmers who will discuss the experiences of the Farmer to Farmer Movement, the ancestral heritage and farming culture, as well as good practices in agriculture.

The exhibition "Agroecology, Food Sovereignty and Nutritional Education" will also be opened; commissions will address issues related to family farming, biodiversity and environment and the role of the cooperative
movement; the closing will be an international round table on experiences in the promotion of agroecology in different regions of the world.

The closing ceremony will be held on the 19th at the Convention Center in Havana, in the hope that the event will mark a new milestone in the extension of agroecology, nutritional education and rural production.
