Cuban and Mexican sugar technicians' associations to attract financing



HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 11 (ACN) The Associations of Sugar Technicians of Cuba (ATAC by its Spanish acronym) and Mexico (ATAM by its Spanish acronym) agreed on the need to identify and attract sources of financing and investors interested in the Cuban sugar agroindustry.

With this objective and based on best practices, it is essential to promote in the short term a forum for debate, in coordination with the AZCUBA Sugar Group, both groups proposed at the VI ATAC-ATAM Meeting of Experts and Specialists of the Sugar Agroindustrial Sector.

The initiative on the matter is included in the final Declaration of the Meeting, which was held on Thursday at the Sugar Training Center, in Havana, where they ratified its validity since the first one in 2014, held in that institution.

The list of their commitments includes support for the 93 measures of the country's leadership, with technical and organizational actions to save the Cuban sugar agroindustry and contribute to its development and modernization in an innovative, flexible and closed-cycle way.

Also, the strengthening of the industry, derivatives and agriculture sections of ATAC, with an active and leading participation of the most experienced specialists, to support and accompany, in combination with AZCUBA, the Industry and Cane Technical Groups, during the 2022-2023 sugar harvest, which should begin at the end of this month.

They agreed that the 7th ATAC-ATAM Technical Meeting will be held in 2023, to favor the use of knowledge, technologies, experiences and good practices in favor of the sugar agro-industries of both nations.

Technicians, specialists and businessmen participated in the meeting and presented papers on the most topical issues of technical and economic importance for the sector's growth.
