Havana, Nov 10 (ACN) Cuban Foreign Trade and Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca ratified unity, integration and cooperation among Caribbean nations with the Association of Caribbean States is crucial for regional development.
In the presence of Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel and representatives of 86 nations of the Grater Caribbean Region, Malmierca gave the opening remarks of the 6th Conference for International Cooperation of the 25-member Association of Caribbean States.
Along with Guatemala, Costa Ria and the ACS Secretariat, Cuba has worked in the drawing up of a program that allows the exchange during the two-day event on the needs and capabilities for cooperation among the Grater Caribbean nations.
Regional efforts aim at disaster risk reduction, sustainable and safe tourism, commerce, transportation and economic relations, as well as adaptation to climate change.
The conference will address the results of a project launched by several Caribbean countries known as “Impact of Climate Change on the Greater Caribbean Sandy Coasts,” which has been back b Cuban experts.
