Díaz-Canel attends ACS meeting

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 10 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez attended the opening today of the 6th International Cooperation Conference of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), which gathers representatives from 86 countries, including the 25 member nations and regional organizations, with a view to promoting solidarity, coordinating positions and discussing issues related to trade, tourism, transportation and the environment.

Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca; Mario Búcaro, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala and Chairman of the ACS Ministerial Council; the Costa Rican Adriana Bolaños, Chair of the ACS Special Committee on Cooperation and Resource Mobilization; ACS Secretary-General Rodolfo Sabonge addressed the audience in the opening session.

"The Greater Caribbean building bridges of transformation and innovation towards a future of sustained progress" is the theme of the meeting, which aims to be a favorable setting for exchanges among representatives of ACS member states, associates and observers.

Themed "The Greater Caribbean: building bridges of transformation and innovation towards a future of sustainable progress", the meeting aims to provide a framework for sharing views among ACS delegates, associates and observers and promoting north-south and south-south cooperation based on the strategic lines of its 2022-2028 Action Plan, as well as to encourage cooperation and resource mobilization and regional projects focused on economic, social, cultural, environmental and technological-digital fields.

Ministers and representatives of international organizations, including the Ibero-American Secretariat, the Central American Integration System (SICA) and the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) are attending the conference of this Association, which gathers not only the Caribbean islands, but also neighboring countries like Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia and Panama.
