HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 10 (ACN) The 6th International Cooperation Conference of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) starts today in this city, where the 25 member countries will promote solidarity, coordinated positions and consultations on issues related to trade, tourism, transport and environment.
Themed "The Greater Caribbean: building bridges of transformation and innovation towards a future of sustainable progress", the two-day meeting aims to provide ACS representatives, associates and observers with a space for sharing views and promoting north-south and south-south cooperation based on the strategic lines of its 2022-2028 Action Plan, as well as to encourage cooperation and resource mobilization and regional projects focused on economic, social, cultural, environmental and technological-digital fields.
Rodrigo Malmierca, Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, confirmed the attendance of ministers, foreign ministers and representatives of international organizations, including the Ibero-American Secretariat, the Central American Integration System (SICA) and the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), and remarked that ACS brings together not only the Caribbean islands, but also neighboring countries like Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia and Panama.
“This Conference will be important both to agree on positions and to attract international organizations and developed countries that participate as observers and can contribute regional cooperation projects and donations," Malmierca said.
