HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 8 (ACN) There can be no rest until the social and economic life of Pinar del Rio(westernmost Cuban province) definitively returns to normal, with the philosophy that everything that is done has to be better than before, insisted today Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country.
The president said on Twitter that the country's highest authorities continue to accompany the recovery work being undertaken in this province after the passage of hurricane Ian, last September 27.
Seven municipalities have recovered electric service between 99 and 100 % (%) while in San Juan y Martinez and San Luis the energy supply remains over 66 %.
Regarding water supply, it was explained that of the 176 water supply sources in the territory, 170 have recovered from the damage, but only 164 are functioning, since the remaining ones have broken.
Concerning food distribution, it was commented that the rice donation provided by the World Food Program was distributed in ten municipalities, while other donation kits are being delivered and the distribution of the regulated quota is being maintained.
In agriculture, more than 5,200 hectares of grains, vegetables and root crops have been planted, 10,278 tons of tobacco have been recovered and some 440 houses have been restored.
On the housing fund, of the 107,117 houses partially or totally affected, almost 1,000 have been restored, and nearly 85,500 forms have been prepared by the processing offices and more than 60,000 have been delivered to the families to access construction materials.
