HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 20 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel is paying his sixth visit to Pinar del Río to evaluate the progress of the recovery efforts under way in this province following the passage of Hurricane Ian.
This region, the worst hit by the weather event of September 27, has already restored 66.91% of the power system and 1,945 of the houses destroyed. Local authorities also announced that five thousand of the 15,000 tons of affected tobacco plants have been saved.
On the occasion of Cuban Culture Day, Díaz-Canel congratulated the artist Alexis Leiva (Kcho), who is working on site with the members of his "Marta Machado" brigade to help restore the damages that Ian left in its wake.
