Havana, Sept 1 (ACN) The president of the Cuban National Assembly of People’s Power (Parliament) Esteban Lazo met in Havana with Dario Nardella, mayor of the Italian city of Florence.
Lazo expressed his thankfulness for the visit by the mayor, who came with a group of Italian business people and personalities; a gesture of commitment and solidarity with Cuba in a complex economic and social scenario for Cuba, marked by the strengthening of US sanctions, the impact of COVID-19 and severe energy difficulties, on top of a media war and other factors, according to the website of the Cuban parliament.
The Cuban top legislator stressed the importance to strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations on the conviction that solidarity is not giving what is left but sharing all we have, a lesson taught by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz.
Meanwhile, Dario Nardella said that Italy and Cuba enjoy friendly relations, which go beyond cooperation in the mere material field and he noted that friendship and solidarity gain significance amidst current difficulties.
