ICAP calls conference for peace and against the blockade

HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 31 (ACN) Between September 2 and October 10, the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) will celebrate a conference for peace and against the blockade, pursuant to the Revolution’s historical commitment of the Revolution to peaceful coexistence and nuclear disarmament.

ICAP official Tamara Velázquez referred to a variety of solidarity events to condemn the genocidal U.S. Cuba policy, the U.S. military bases in Latin America and the Caribbean and the escalation of imperialist aggression and to pay tribute to Salvador Allende, Agostinho Neto, Lucius Walker and Fabio di Celmo and the Puerto Rican independence cause.

Víctor Gaute, vice-president of ICAP, thanked those who support Cuban in particularly difficult times of increasing harassment and persecution of Cuba solidarity associations and friends, recalled that the Revolution’s vision of peace relies on respect for the sovereignty and free self-determination of the peoples, and reasserted ICAP's rejection of the U.S. government’s attempts to thwart any sign of support for Cuba, stating that the recent visits of U.S. citizens, most of them young people interested in learning about Cuba, reveals the absurdity of such policies of isolation and sanctions, he pointed out.
