HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 21 (ACN) Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, received on Wednesday the president of the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU), comrade Ha Thi Nga.
During their exchange, Morales Ojeda highlighted the role of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) in our society, promoted by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and the eternal president of the FMC, Vilma Espín Guillois.
In reference to the ideas, concepts and guidelines produced by the 8th Congress of the PCC, he underscored the presence of women at various levels of the Party, the State, the Government and society in general, especially in the fields of health care and science, and described the impact of the intensified U.S. blockade and destabilizing anti-Cuban campaigns.
In turn, Ha Thi Nga talked about Vietnam’s progress regarding the empowerment of women and the consolidation of the VWU as promoter of gender equality in government programs, as well as about her country’s invariable position in supporting the struggle of the Cuban people, Party and Government to defend their sovereignty and against the blockade, as well as the interest in continuing to strengthen the ties of cooperation and solidarity between the two countries.
Both parties ratified the commitment to continue defending the legacy of the leaders Fidel Castro Ruz and Ho Chi Minh, and to continue working in the construction of socialism.
