Outstanding Cuban Intellectual Ambrosio Fornet Passed Away

Havana, April 5 (ACN) Outstanding Cuban scholar Ambrosio Fornet, National Literature and Edition Prize, passed away at 89.

Cuban President Miguel Diaz Canel regretted the passing of Fornet as he wrote on his Twitter account “Many of us are going to miss Ambrosio Fornet.”

Fornet was born in the eastern Cuban province of Bayamo, on October 6, 1932. He was an outstanding writer, researcher and editor.

Culture Minister Alpidio Alonso expressed his regret about the passing of Fornet and sent his condolences to the scholar’s relatives. “It’s not possible to describe what the physical loss of Fornet means to Cuban Culture,” he wrote.

Casa de las Americas cultural institution recalled Fornet’s work, who was considered one of the closest collaborators, winner of place among the most notable Cuban scholars of recent times.
