HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 6 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel mourned today on Twitter the loss of the artist and activist for environmental causes Osmel Francis, who died yesterday in this city.
The president, who described Francis as a sensitive and tireless human being who strived to defend nature and the environment, extended his condolences to relatives and friends of the artist known as "The Grandfather of Rap."
Osmel Francis, who directed the project Cubanos en la Red, worked hard to promote policies in favor of a change of thinking about today’s relationship between humanity and the planet and its ecosystems.
Among the cultural projects in which he participated are the Casiguaguas phonogram—together with the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment and the Ministry of Tourism—and the collective exhibition Guayaberas de un cubano ecologista (Guayaberas of a Cuban cologist).
