
Havana, Jan 5 (ACN) The University of Havana held the graduation ceremony for the 2021 school year in the context of its 294th anniversary and in a period marked by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over 2.4 thousand students graduated from 36 university courses, a result of joint efforts by professors and their pupils to satisfactory conclude a process amidst the conditions imposed by the pandemic, such as distance education.
During the ceremony, attended by Higher Education Minister Jose Ramon Saborido, University rector Miriam Nicado stressed the performance of her education center during the pandemic period and the significant role played by the students in giving their assistance to patients at isolation centers and contributing to scientific and innovative projects to fight COVID-19.
Graduated with outstanding records from the University’s Law School, Gabriela Solar said she was proud of having studied at the emblematic center which provides Cuba with professionals highly committed to the socialist revolution.
University authorities acknowledged outstanding graduates in different areas of knowledge, during the ceremony which was also attended by the governor of Havana, Communist Party officials, professors, students and their relatives.
