HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 4 (ACN) Jose Angel Portal Miranda, Cuban minister of public health, congratulated today on Twitter the family doctors and nurses in the country, on the occasion of the 38th anniversary of the founding of that program.
The minister's message also pointed out that these health professionals honor the words of the historic leader of the Revolution and initiator of the project, Fidel Castro, when he said: "Never has an idea or a health program developed so much and so fast, nor has it brought so much fruit, as this idea and this family doctor program".
Also on Twitter, Cuban PM Manuel Marrero praised the date and acknowledged the work of family doctors and nurses in confronting the COVID-19 pandemic.
Marrero described this Program as a keystone of Primary Health Care in Cuba.
Founded on January 4, 1984, this plan aimed at achieving new levels of health and satisfaction of the population, through the prevention of risk factors and the promotion of healthy lifestyles.
According to the ministry of public health, its implementation has made it possible to raise the population's health indicators through promotion, prevention, diagnosis and timely treatment in the community, as well as rehabilitation, including social and hygienic-sanitary aspects.
