Díaz-Canel celebrates authorization for emergency use of Cuban vaccine in Mexico

HAVANA, Dec 30 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez celebrated today on his Twitter account the authorization for emergency use that Mexico granted to the Cuban COVID-19 vaccine Abdala, which he described as very good news for both countries, an opportunity for the demonstrably effective immunogen to be introduced in the world, and a recognition of the talent and dedication of Cuban scientists.

On Wednesday, Cuba's Biotechnological and Pharmaceutical Industries Group (BioCubafarma) announced on its social networks the Emergency Use Authorization of Abdala in Mexico and pointed out that this approval allows that country to import the Cuban vaccine and use it in its National Vaccination Policy against COVID-19 for people over 19 years of age.

A note from the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (COFEPRIS) highlights that its permits are part of the National Strategy of Sanitary Regulation to review and receive as many consumables for health as possible as long as they are of proven quality, safety and efficacy.

As the National Regulatory Authority of Reference (ARNr), qualified by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), COFEPRIS's decisions are recognized by several countries in the region, so that the approved vaccines can be used in other nations.
