Diaz-Canel highlights creativity, resistance and convictions of Cubans in 2021

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 28 (ACN) The first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CC-PCC) and president of the country, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, said today on Twitter that 2021 has been a hard year and one of regrettable losses, while highlighting the creativity, endurance and convictions of the Cuban people.

During the political-cultural event held on Monday on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution, Diaz-Canel said that it has been a year where the firmness of the new generations of Cubans who are participating in the defense of the Revolution, and who have been gradually assuming the functions of the leadership of the State, the Party and the Government at all levels, has been tested.

He appreciated that once again we won, and added that we have to say it with all justice, with all certainty, because having withstood the threats, the aggressions, the attempts to destabilize our country, the broad intelligence operation developed by the Government of the United States, is a victory.

In 2021, Cuban leader stressed, we have been very much attacked, because the blockade of the US Government was tightened to really extreme limits; and we have been subjected to the multidimensional world crisis that already existed and was increased by the pandemic.

He added that it has been a year of continuity in the fight against COVID-19, as part of which he emphasized how many of our doctors went to support other parts of the world, and thousands of others remained in Cuba to carry out the program that, under the instructions of Army General Raul Castro, was conceived to face the epidemic.

Diaz Canel also pointed out that this was the year in which the results of our scientists' research made it possible to make progress in the immunization of our population with our own vaccines.

As for the projections for the coming year, he urged to multiply the hope of these last months of the year in the control of the epidemic, with the trust that it is possible to continue advancing, removing bits and pieces of the existing problems.
