HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 28 (ACN) The Cuban Foreign Ministry reported that China and the island-nation are betting on strengthening their cooperation after signing the plan to promote the economic project of the Road and Belt initiative.
The Cuban Foreign Ministry's website, Cubaminrex, indicated that according to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian, such action will give greater impetus to the efforts of both parties to implement the consensus reached by the heads of state of the two nations.
He added that the plan to promote the economic project of the Road and Belt initiative clearly identifies multiple cooperation projects that align Cuba's development plans with key areas and contents of the Chinese initiative.
He detailed that they now have the mechanism to implement it thanks to the signing last Friday of the cooperation program by the island's vice premier, Ricardo Cabrisas, and the president of China's National Development and Reform Commission, He Lifeng.
According to Cubaminrex, the plan constitutes one of the main milestones in economic relations in 2021 and defines, among other aspects, the objectives, principles and fields of cooperation such as policy coordination, infrastructure connection, free trade, financial integration and people-to-people ties.
Likewise, the Chinese representative added that the Asian initiative in its eight years of existence has benefited with tangible results the 145 countries and 32 international organizations that are part of it.
