Cuba and Kuwait Share Growing Bilateral Relations



Havana, Dec 23 (ACN) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez stressed the positive state of bilateral relations with Kuwait during a meeting with Fadel Khalaf, outgoing ambassador in Havana from that Arab nation.

The Cuban government official said that both sides ratified their will to keep developing bilateral economic, commercial and cooperation links.

Cuba and Kuwait have advanced their relations through several accords in the areas of health, the environment, investment protection, culture and cooperation.

Kuwait’s fromer Premier Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Jaber Al Sabah, visited Cuba in July 2020 and along with former Cuban President Raul Castro agreed to open an embassy in Havana.

The Arab Economic Development Fund of Kuwait has granted Cuba soft credit lines to finance infrastructure projects of great impact of Cuban economy. Meanwhile, Cuban doctors and nurses have assisted patients in Kuwait’s hospitals, and many citizens in that Arab nation, who suffered from diabetic foot ulcers, have been benefitted with the Cuban pharmaceutical known as Heberprot-P. A Cuban medical brigade also assisted Kuwait in its efforts against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kuwait is located in the northern tip of the Persian Gulf, expanding along 17 thousand 818 square kilometers and has a population of 4.2 million.
