Havana, Dec 21 (ACN) Gerardo Peñalver Portal was appointed new Cuban First Deputy Foreign Minister, replacing Marcelino Medina Gonzalez who occupied that post with outstanding results over the past 12 years, according to the website of the Cuban Foreign Ministry.
Medina Gonzalez was appointed ambassador to Spain with outstanding records in revolutionary diplomacy.
The newly appointed official has a bachelor degree in International Political Relations and has occupied different posts at the Cuban Foreign Ministry and in the external service, including the post of General Director of the Foreign Ministry and ambassador to Germany and Russia.
