Car Accident in Eastern Cuba kills Minor and Injures another Eight Passengers

Camaguey, Cuba, Dec 20 (ACN) A car accident occurred Monday morning near the locality of Sibanicu, in this eastern Cuban province, killing a 10-year-old child and injuring another eight persons who are currently under treatment in local healthcare centers.

The event occurred little before 10 am on the central highway when the driver of a truck apparently lost control of the vehicle while carrying the belongings of a family moving out of their home in Las Tunas province to Ciego de Avila region, according to Traffic Police officer Rafael Torres.

The minor Alisdier German Ponce de Leon Perez (10) died in the event, while another two children are being assisted at the Eduardo Agramonte pediatric hospital due to serious damages: Edidier Orlando Marquez Perez (8) under intermediate therapy treatment due to frontal lineal

fracture, and Ledier Marquez Perez (4) under neurology care due to cerebral commotion, according to doctor Nancy Raton Quintana, medical assistance vice-director.

Meanwhile, Doctor Yanara Pelaez, director of the Manuel Ascunce Provincial University Hospital, said that six adults who resulted injured in the accident were in under treatment at her institution. Alenni Maria Perez Rodriguez (30) and Pastora Osorio Peña (73) are in serious conditions, while Marcial Alberto Torres Rodriguez (28) and Maria Torres Rodriguez (18) also in extremely serious conditions.

Truck driver Yudet Hernandez Perez (40) and his assistant Jose Alberto Mesa Velazquez (29) are out of danger. Police experts are now fully involved in the investigation of the accident.
