The Cuban leader wished a "Happy Anniversary", and stressed that the promise of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro that the Five would return was fulfilled.
Regarding the date, the Cuban PM, Manuel Marrero, highlighted the words of the Commander in Chief on the return of the five anti-terrorist fighters.
For her part, Cuban deputy foreign minister, Anayansi Rodriguez, noted on the social media that the years will go by, but the memory and the great joy of that day will never stop touching us.
She recalled that on that date an entire people and thousands of friends around the world celebrated that the Five were already in the Homeland, Rodriguez said, adding, "the day when #Fidel's promise was fulfilled: They will return!".
On December 17, 2014, millions of Cubans became witnesses to the fulfillment of the Commander-in-Chief's promise. With this, a battle that crossed the oceans to become a solidarity movement in hundreds of countries ended.
