Cuba approves strategy for prevention and attention to gender-based violence

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 10 (ACN) Cuba approved an Integral Strategy for Prevention and Attention to Gender Violence and in the Family Scenario, with the aim of guaranteeing an effective integral and comprehensive response to this phenomenon.

Said strategy is divided into two phases, during 2021-2030, with a mid-term evaluation in 2026. In addition, it states that its main components are in line with the areas of special attention of the National Program for the Advancement of Women, such as social communication; education and continuous training; prevention; care; protection, among others.

Among the main objectives of the components are, for example, to implement a comprehensive social communication strategy for development with a gender and human rights perspective, directed at social transformation, which contributes to the prevention of gender-based violence and others that occur in the family setting.

Guarantee the education and continuous training of the personnel of the bodies, agencies of the Central State Administration, mass and social organizations, and other associative forms, linked to the prevention and attention of gender violence and in the family scenario.

It also seeks to develop actions focused on the prevention of gender violence in all social spheres and other forms of violence in the family scenario; as well as to implement sectorial and intersectorial protocols for the integral and integrated attention to this problem in different spheres.

At the same time, it is intended to improve the national legal framework in coherence with the international legal framework, the Constitution of the Republic of Cuba and the National Program for the Advancement of Women in the area of gender violence in different spheres, as well as other forms of violence in the family scenario.
