HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 6 (ACN) Cuba and Venezuela reaffirmed today their willingness to strengthen cooperation in migratory matters, in order to ensure a regular, orderly and safe flow of travelers.
At the 5th Round of Migratory Talks between the two countries, held virtually Monday, the importance of this type of meetings for bilateral relations was highlighted, the Cuban foreign ministry reported on its website.
The working sessions were chaired by the Cuban deputy minister of foreign affairs, Gerardo Peñalver Portal, and the deputy minister for Latin America of the people' ministry for foreign affairs of Venezuela, Rander Peña Ramirez.
According to the source, during the exchanges, the state of the migratory flow between the two countries was evaluated in a frank, cordial and cooperative atmosphere, in accordance with the excellent state of the existing bilateral relations.
Cuba and Venezuela reviewed compliance with the MoU on Migratory Matters and the Memorandum on the Exchange of Migratory Alerts and Security Information, as effective mechanisms for migratory control, the fight against the illegal traffic of migrants and human trafficking, and the adequate treatment of migrants.
