HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 6 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez said today on Twitter that COVID-19 remains under control in the country, almost a month after the lifting of lockdown measures.
The president stressed that the Cuban vaccines are the best protection and remarked that 83% of the population has already completed the immunization scheme.
On Sunday, he wrote, Cuba confirmed 88 positive cases. Up until December 3, according to the Ministry of Public Health, 9,280,509 people had received all the COVID-19 vaccines and 424,113 had been administered booster doses.
A total of 549 patients were still in hospital, with 527 of them showing a stable clinical evolution, whereas 22 are in intensive care (11 critical and 11 severe).
On November 15, Cuba undertook a gradual increase of its commercial air operations after more than 280 days of reduced international flights due to the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases.
