Varadero, Future Digital City Project

 


Varadero, Cuba, Nov 30 (ACN) The Digital City project for Varadero tourist center will boost the use of Information technologies for all and with the participation of all citizens as presented on Tuesday during the America Accessible International Forum held at the International Melia Hotel in this sun-and-beach destination, in western Matanzas province.

The president of the Matanzas Scientific-Technological Park, Diego Castillo presented the Varadero Digital City project to be implemented in 2024, with the involvement of different social actors as it demands integration and technology.

First thing is turning Varadero a digital center to make it into a smart city, said the expert who said that this needs the transformation of the tourist destination with intensive use of information technologies generating knowledge and quality of life since the initiative is in tune with sustainable development goals.

At present, Varadero counts on 4-G data services with specific apps aimed at different objectives related to the tourist center, the expert said.

Some 200 participants from a dozen nations at the forum on smart cities learned about projects for the cities of Camaguey and Havana, where information technologies are being applied in the benefit of knowledge and their citizens’ quality of life.
