Havana, Nov 26 (ACN) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez expressed his thankfulness for the traditional support by the Iberoamerican Conference member nations of the island’s claim for the lifting of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade.
The Foreign Minister recalled that the US anti-Cuba policy has been strengthened in a deliberate and opportunistic manner and even under the COVID-19 pandemic; the US policy has lately been added failed destabilizing operations against the island nation.
On his Twitter account, Minister Rodriguez said that during the Iberoamerican Ministerial Meeting held Friday in the Dominican Republic, participants agreed to the pressing need of expanding international cooperation to ensure fast, equitable, accessible distribution of vaccines,
resources and medical equipment to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ministerial Meeting adopted a statement calling on the nations to abstain from enforcing unilateral economic, commercial and financial measures that may affect the capacity of the countries to fight the pandemic.
The statement underlines that the COVID-19 has exposed the damage inflicted by such measures, which block access to medical equipment, lung ventilators, medical oxygen, drugs, spare parts, software programs, fuels and electricity.
