HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 26 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, visited today the social transformation actions in the community of Bejerano, in Alquizar, Artemisa province.
According to the Cuban presidency on Twitter, the president visited the school, the doctor's office, the warehouse and several houses, and appreciated the changes taking place for the benefit of some 1,576 inhabitants.
In an exchange with the people of Bejerano, Diaz-Canel referred to the need for the participation of the neighbors in everything that is done, of popular control in order not to go backwards.
He also stressed the importance of having a sensitive look towards the most vulnerable people, and of offering jobs as the first way to overcome vulnerability.
Inquiring about the epidemiological situation, the head of state appreciated that, in spite of the complexity suffered in July and August in Alquizar, there are no cases of COVID-19 at present.
Authorities in the territory said that vaccination is at 88 %, with all children immunized, and only those convalescing from the disease are still to be vaccinated.
Cuban leader also visited the Alquizar Urban Farm, where he shared with producers about the potato planting campaign.
According to what was reported during the visit, the province of Artemisa plans to cultivate 600 hectares of potatoes in this campaign, of which 150 are already planted, with national seed.
