CAMAGUEY, Cuba, Nov 26 ( ACN) The example of solidarity with the people of the world that the historic leader Fidel Castro kept guiding the members of the Portugal-Cuba Friendship Association who are visiting the Caribbean nation for the second time.
Composed of 26 members, the solidarity group collected some 300 kilograms of medicines, children's clothes and school materials, part of which are already in Cuba and the other half, still in Portugal, will soon be sent to the island in containers.
Manuel Gloria, a member of the Portuguese communist party and vice president of the aforementioned association, also explained to the press during the visit of the group to this city(central Cuba) coming from the eastern region and heading to Matanzas, that the donations are being distributed to the different provincial delegations of the Cuban Friendship by its Spanish acronym).
In the context of the five years of the physical loss of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, the Portuguese communists feel great emotion in paying homage to the man who dedicated his whole life to the Revolution and led the construction of Socialism in Cuba, Manuel said.
The members of the Portugal-Cuba friendship association shared with the workers of the Hotel Camaguey, in this city, and met in the garden of the tourist facility where a caguairan tree grows, which they fertilized in homage to the Commander in Chief.
They also visited the Jimaguayu Hall of the Revolution Square Mayor General Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz, a site that perpetuates the memory of the revolutionary leader, as his ashes rested there in 2016, during his journey to the Santa Ifigenia Cemetery in Santiago de Cuba.
